Hallo, children!

Decided to check out whether the place was going mad, well, without me it's virtually impossible of course.

So, who will be driving for us in 2009? Bourdais awakening was a bit of a surprise, I like the guy. But the dude, the bloke of the future is definitely Vettel. With some extra donkey & horsepower from Renault engine and Newey design he can make it happen. We need to motivate our drivers and the best way to do it is "no points - no money" contract, finished lower than 8th - pay the bills yourself, the likely increase in driver performance will be huge!

Take care.

Fantastic

6. Monday 8 September 2008 at 13:13:08 by RF1 Paddock Pass

Anoter gem from Cirebox - and with the fin on the back of the R28, it really does resemble a boat.

Don't worry dilettante, the podcast is on its way. Pat Symonds and Alan Permane will be taking part in that tomorrow so it should be uploaded either Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning.

Nice of you to pop in BOL. You've been missed around these parts. I hope that this is not simply a cameo...

To RF1PP and the entire RF1 team, congratulations on an excellent weekend. I honestly believe this bodes well for the final 5 races. As FA put it, right now RF1 is 3rd fastest constructor. Well done guys.

rf1 when do you arrive in Monza and is it a track that will suit the car, are we in the pos to fight for 6th/5th in qualy? thanks

21. Monday 8 September 2008 at 21:24:06 by megsimeg

very nice )
the podium was our in this race,I'm very sorry, but and 4th place is very strong result for Reanult, bravo Fernando!

22. Monday 8 September 2008 at 22:17:35 by RF1 Paddock Pass

Hi Hak182. Most of the team is already in Monza. With the races being back-to-back, it made more sense for the mechanics to travel straight to Italy. They will prep and rebuild the cars in the garages of Monza, rather than in the racebays of Enstone. The engineers came back to Enstone and will travel out to Italy on Wednesday afternoon, along with RF1PP!

As for the team’s performance in Monza, I think it will be a tougher weekend than Spa. The R28 was especially suited to Spa, and Monza is a very different type of circuit. Speaking with Bob Bell earlier today, he still feels that the team can perform strongly, but it will be more of a challenge than Spa. Getting in the top ten will be a good result.

23. Monday 8 September 2008 at 22:34:54 by Rebecca

Fantastic drawing Cirebox!

Excellent end to the race! one minute the TV screen was showing Fernando in 8th :0( place then the next thing he is flying over the finish line to snatch 4th! Great :0)

26. Tuesday 9 September 2008 at 12:01:41 by Greenpe

muy cachondo el dibujo (very funny drawing)

27. Tuesday 9 September 2008 at 12:26:10 by cirebox

Hi all, many thanks for the drawing...as you can see, i'm improving the drawing of a podium.... will I use it in Monza?
Hope so !

28. Tuesday 9 September 2008 at 12:28:24 by cirebox

RF1PP: you made a mistake: "Getting in the top ten will be a good result."
everyone can understand you wanted to write "Getting in the top THREE will be a good result."

29. Tuesday 9 September 2008 at 13:43:17 by RF1 Paddock Pass

I'm glad that your belated birthday present made it to Fernando, Siberian lady.

I like your optimism, Cirebox. How nice it would be to get that podium and I would love to see you draw that. Fernando has been so close on so many occasions this year. Monza will be a tough race, though, and I think we will perform better in the four races after that. Still, we go there determined to do our best.

30. Tuesday 9 September 2008 at 15:07:58 by grip

I have a few questions ....

Why after posting the 6th fastest time in Q2 could we not muster more than the 9th fastest lap in the race ? Was FA just not pushing as hard cause of lack of competition around him ?

Why did we choose to go 17 laps on the hardware compound tire and no more than 13 on the softer compound when the softer compound was clearly the faster tire? We got a great shot of FA's tires entering the pits on his 2nd pitstop. They looked like they could go a few more laps.

31. Tuesday 9 September 2008 at 15:25:37 by grip

@18 That was funny. I believe that FA going to Ferrari would be a mistake. Without Brawn they are clearly making mistakes that they didn't before his exit. Only winning last year because McLaren Split points between LH and FA. You got to trust that with a few extra ponies under the hood, Renault would be right there with the top 2.

32. Tuesday 9 September 2008 at 15:53:21 by Hak182

thank you RF1, I can't see FA go to honda its too risky they have had an awful 2 years and even tho next year is from scratch i cant just see them be a top 3 team nor do want too:P t would make sense to stay at renault the way we have progressed this year then go to ferrari feel anyway really want to see him at renault next year.

33. Tuesday 9 September 2008 at 16:11:07 by renault-racer

Fernando is to have signed at BMW, for 3 years.
I am so sad over its decision. Gladly I would have seen triumphing to Fernando 2009 in a Renault R29.
Why doesn't Fernando remain with Renault? Who comes now for Fernando to Renault? Does Nelson does remain with Renault or have to also go it? I would wish myself Lucas di Grassi. I drove it in Hockenheim with him in the Megane RS, was the insanity…

34. Tuesday 9 September 2008 at 16:24:56 by cirebox

i beg your pardon, renault-racer, but "is to have" doesn't mean the same thing as "has"... so, before a public speach from Fernando himself, no use to say that...

35. Tuesday 9 September 2008 at 17:01:21 by renault-racer

Excuse Cirebox, Fernando for BMW decided. At a rumor something always is to. I am so sad. Why does it so often change the team? Renault improves nevertheless ever more. Doesn't it have confidence in Renault F1 for 2009?

36. Tuesday 9 September 2008 at 17:11:29 by renault-racer

RTL:
The days of nod Heidfeld at BMW clean are obviously counted. According to the Italian TV-transmitter “Sky” signed Fernando Alonso a three-year contract with the GermanSwiss running universe. A shock for the German pilot, who delivered straight with its 2nd place at the GP of Belgium a tactical master achievement. To the question, whether this high comes too late, it answered Munich Heidfelds manager Andre Theuerzeit in “the evening paper”: “No comment”. Also nod Heidfeld schwant nothing property: “I know the business.”
Before the “car, engine & sport” had already reported of the interest of the Müncher automobile giant at Alonso. The Spaniard is unfortunate with Renault. Willi Weber, Manager von Michael Schumacher, guesses the white-blue to the deal with the world champion 2005 and 2006. “If one a Alonso gotten can get, must one him”, so to Weber

37. Tuesday 9 September 2008 at 17:14:18 by renault-racer

What is one to say to it???
Doesn't Renault F1, 2009 have Top driver more? Allegedly Flavio Briatore wants to extend. Did Flavio say nich times, if Fernando stops with Renault F1, then goes I also?

38. Tuesday 9 September 2008 at 17:41:47 by Blackmadonna

RTL is as worse as Bild.

39. Tuesday 9 September 2008 at 17:42:39 by Blackmadonna

Ups sorry typo- what i wanted to say is as bad as Bild. All those rumors....

40. Tuesday 9 September 2008 at 17:54:51 by adam20692

hmmmmm ive heard rumours of nelson being replaced by di grassi and heidfeld coming to renault should he get the chop.....what do you guys think of heidfeld i would prefer alonso but i wouldent be unhappy with hiedfeld considering his experiance brough bmw to the front maybe he can do the same for us? just a thought lol we will see what happens by september time

FErnando can't go anywhere else now- had to spend all my pocket money on a Renault fleece in Spa to stay a little bit unfrozen! Lol

lol did the same in silverstone

47. Wednesday 10 September 2008 at 00:33:12 by grip

If TR tosses Bourdais, Renault should pick him up and toss NP. Lets face it, he has been pathetic.

48. Wednesday 10 September 2008 at 00:43:59 by grip

@32 If I were FA ....He'd be better looking !!! All jokes aside I'd go to Either Honda or stay at Renault. 2 proven winners. Honda(Brawn) has the budget edge but Renault is where the heart is ?

49. Wednesday 10 September 2008 at 00:47:50 by grip

@36 so why is Kubica complaining about BMW spending so much time with Heidfeld? That doesn't seem to make sense.

50. Wednesday 10 September 2008 at 01:06:37 by Greenpe

43 me too @Spain

51. Wednesday 10 September 2008 at 02:28:59 by theBlueOrangeLion

"Nice of you to pop in BOL. You've been missed around these parts. I hope that this is not simply a cameo..." - I'm too lazy these days to be honest, got a job and it's affecting my ego, my libido, my psyche.

Got a question - who's doing demo runs at Estoril WSR round this month? Sakon? I'll be able to get close to the most beautiful F1 car of the decade - R27, albeit not very fast but God knows it was a real beauty to watch on the track.

My cat is now gunning for blogging here. Would that be ok?

52. Wednesday 10 September 2008 at 03:06:24 by f1angel

@BOL, what happened to your dog?

Also, I'm glad to see u back!

53. Wednesday 10 September 2008 at 03:35:46 by theBlueOrangeLion

Also, not sure if somebody asked this before - I was like listening to Renault F1 engine sound and it kinda sounds different to what it used to be before (earlier this year), at low revs it's now making these weird low noises like BMW engine. Some upgrades? Because Ferrari-powered Toro Rosso is like totally humiliating mothership Red Bull operation.

I made a wild guess some time before on sidepodcast about Renault and RBR joining forces and creating a superteam, a very wild guess of course based on the example of Williams-Renault past success. I mean the team is now called Renault factory team but really it's still good old Benetton (the core of the team, people, management) with its highs and lows of the 1990s. It's not gonna happen but the idea came to me in my sleep; heavy Red Bull financial backing coupled with massive Renault-Nissan group money and immense brain power of Newey team and our mighty designers - Ferrari and Macca could forget about even getting close to winning. Besides, they're getting on my nerves, could somebody else please win a race this year? BMW got their lucky win but we must make our own luck, if it rains in Japan both Ferraris will be out within the 1st lap and it could create "possilibities".

But you have to say it's up to the drivers, I mean putting all your eggs in one basket is not wise, even if it makes that one hen happier because there's no competition from the little chicken. You can't dwell on the past, 2005 and 2006 titles were great but current F1 situation requires a different approach - "a tenth of a second can mean the difference between sixth on the grid or 17th, which makes most of the teams seem really inconsistent and creates wrong impressions about how well a team is doing." I'm not blaming the blokes or anything, both FA and NP are doing everything they can depending on the circuit and other factors. But when you see for example Vettel being interviewed he's really fired up the point where you think: he's gonna bite off the top of that microphone while our guys walk around with sour-sulky-sullen faces before the race starts, I normally wear a face like that when I'm constipated. Maybe watching Trainspotting will help? That scene with the worst toilet in Scotland was fantastic. A long post, I won't have time for that in next few days, hoping to see a couple of Ferrari engines expire at Monza. I think I'm no longer constipated.

54. Wednesday 10 September 2008 at 03:39:27 by theBlueOrangeLion

"what happened to your dog?" - it turns out she was a huge Jenson Button fan so she's off to his fansite or something, I dunno, I'll ask her.

57. Wednesday 10 September 2008 at 15:29:57 by renault-racer

Most of the teams have already confirmed their driver line-ups for next season. What is state of affairs at Renault?
FB: Be assured that we will announce our 2009 drivers between the end of this season and the start of next.

58. Wednesday 10 September 2008 at 15:31:12 by renault-racer

Did Alonso sign at BMW???

59. Wednesday 10 September 2008 at 15:31:49 by renault-racer

And what about your own future in Formula One racing? You have a contract until the end of the season. What then? Will we see you here next year?
FB: Ah, my future is pink. Will I be here next year? I don’t know. But this is the least of my problems. If it is possible to cut costs and get everything under control, then maybe I’ll be excited to stay. But if it goes on like now, I might not interested.

Alonso today in Madrid for Viceroy ! Alonso in 2009 in Renault !!!!! alonso alonso alonso !

64. Wednesday 10 September 2008 at 19:12:10 by dilettante

@63... I Googled your story and found this...(Google translation)

The Spanish pilot Fernando Alonso (Renault) suggests that next season will continue in the French team because he wants to win with the team with which he conquered his two world titles, but does not close any door.

"I have a contract with Renault. I league to them for several years. Although failure to meet the goals I have the option to leave. My idea and my dream is to win with Renault as in 2005 and 2006," he said in the filing the collection of watches Viceroy that bears his name.

The Spaniard admits that at this stage of season all teams are very optimistic about the cars they will have next year and its choice should be guided by nothing more than intuition and confidence. "Now I have to fiarme or not. That I will stay. Sometimes you have to trust and crossing their fingers because until January or February, you do not know how things stand for truth", he said.

The ovetense made it clear who is tired of the rumors that he put on almost all cars of the grill. "I tired to talk much about my future. Once you decide, there will be a press release, and you're all happy. But now I understand the rumors, do not understand when they began in the third race," he added.

His name sounds for almost all teams, but did not want to reveal what will be his next color and responded with an evasive "go green like you," an allusion to a journalist laSexta, when asked why. "With the regulatory changes for next year, any team can win and that Ferrari and BMW are back and are left without options", recounted.

In addition, it has not yet seen the 'R29'. "I have not seen the single-seater next year. There is only designs on the computer and a miniature car at 1:2 which is in the wind tunnel. At this stage all the teams are optimistic. The information is always good but the following year is not quite rightly, "he said.

On the other hand, did not hesitate to explain that the 'R28' lacks "a number of factors" both aerodynamic and engine to keep pace with the favorites. "It lacks engine, you're missing about four tenths of engine and take everything a day. Sometimes it is particularly expensive and sometimes not everything goes wrong and as now."

"AND THE podium victories are discards."

Therefore, now looking for "new objectives and targets." "The goal clearly is to finish fourth the World Constructors ahead of Toyota. It's the most real. Podiums and victories are discarded," he said.

Anyway, feels satisfied with the developments that have experienced throughout the year. "The season did not start well, but now things are going better. In the last two or three races got more points than in the first nine. Hopefully work will bear fruit," he said.

Alonso knows that climb the podium "is something very difficult" and therefore will not be "a failure" not something that has already made the 'rookie' Nelsinho Piquet. "It's my best season compare with my partner and I have always beaten. He got a podium after a great career and a 'Pelin' fate. Dio eight points to Renault very important."

On the next five appointments, does not know in what may shine. "Of the remaining evidence, I do not know what will be my best race. But I do know that the worst is Monza, where it will suffer more," he said.

Alonso hopes to climb back to the top of the podium. "I have no anxiety about winning, but like any athlete I prepare to get some results. If you do not have results,'ll less, but you know you will eventually arrive."

Referring to the controversial penalty which suffered its former partner Lewis Hamilton (McLaren-Mercedes) said: "They have changed the judges. There are three new people. They do not know of favoritism or anything. It has been a great success change. FIA has had a good approach, since there had been several scandals. Now you know that if you do something bad, what you pay, I am in Valencia with me fined 10,000 euros by stepping on a line of 'pit-lane. "

Anyway, regrets that the decisions taken so long to take. "Sometimes sanctions arrive late and can not enjoy on the podium finish for a victory that getting into the offices", he said.

"Never give FERRARI surprise."

Looking to the Italian Grand Prix, no cree that the Ferrari racing team gives no surprise. "We made public in the previous test in Monza that Raikkonen and Massa will remain its pilots. Now the picture will be rigorous and there will be no surprises," analyzed.

In another vein, dismisses emulate his skipper Flavio Briatore and act as team manager in the future. "In the seven years I have been in Formula 1 I have worked with engineers and designers and I have some experience, but I do not know what I will when I retire. In principle, I do not think that team manager, is a lot of responsibility and I want something more relaxed, "he said.

Finally, he justified his decision not to grant interviews to non-sporting press. "My relationship with the non-sporting press is non-existent. Never talk to them. They speak of me what happens to them and what they devised. My way of understanding life and my profession is not dealing with it," he concluded

95% chance of rain for sunday according to msn weather, so happy
That's good, according to Alonso from the tracks left Monza is the worse for us, so if it rains it could turn a really struggling race into a very interesting one and with a big chance of scoring big points.

67. Wednesday 10 September 2008 at 22:20:29 by pryanjack

yep, @ monza we'll suffer with traction out of the chicanes/corners and lower top speeds than the others due to engine. Just not losing points to Toyota would be a good result. Rain might present a chance for something better.

68. Wednesday 10 September 2008 at 22:54:34 by MO1023

I certainly hope it rains in monza.. we might struggle if it doesn't. well as long as we finish infront of those dreadful tomato splodged toyboyta's
