The first laps of practice for the Turkish Grand Prix took place on a slippery track.

Lewis Hamilton set the fastest lap of the second free practice session in front of a surprised Mark Webber. Renault's Fernando and Nelson were classified 13th and 19th.

Ferrari and McLaren were the favourites for the first Grand Prix, and in the first free practice session they dominated the first four places. Fernando was sixth.
